

RESOURCE VALUES
The National Park is located in Kure Mountains in the Western Black Sea Region. The park area is characterized by a plateau, and lies from the east to west. Due to the fact that it has a threshold structure in physical and social aspects for its neighborhood, settlements in the national park area is not gathered but dispersed within the park boundaries. Natural resource values are the principal ones among the park resources. National park is stituated within the Western Blacksea karstic zone. Four main eroded surfaces were formed in the zone are interesting examples of karstic geomorphology in the national and international level. In particular, canyon, passes, caves and sinkholes are remarkable examples of this formation.
Kure Daglari National Park was declared and established in 2000. Kure Daglari National Park covers the area of Cide, Azdavay, Pinarbasi districts in the Northwest of Kastamonu province and east of Bartin province. National park has a total area of 37 000 hectares. The nearest settlement to the national park is Pinarbasi town which is 73 km to Kastamonu province and 92 km to Azdavay and 125 km to Cide.


FAUNA
The national park is also important in fauna and wildlife aspects. 40 of the Turkey`s 132 species of mammals are encountered in this region. Furthermore, some endangered species such as fox, otter, roe deer and deer also live in this region. In addition, 129 bird species, 46 of which are vulnerable to extinction, are found in the park and its milieu. The region is also rich in day and night predators.



CLIMATE
In the region, winters are usually cold, and summers are mild. The inner part is harsh in climate. Rain falls much in the coastal part and less in inner part. Mean annual precipitation in the region is 438 mm. Snow remains on the ground about 2-3 months in winter season. The coldest and the warmest months are July (38.7C) and January (-35C). The number of rainy days is between 120 and 130. The wettest month is May.

Kastamonu is 520 km to Istanbul, 240 km to Ankara, 265 km to Zonguldak and 820 km to Izmir via highways.
